Your Private Escape into Nature
Escape to our 80-acre property on the Pembina river to connect with nature and the people you love. You'll stay in a spacious three-bedroom home, complete with a covered back deck, fire pit, barbecue, and huge yard. The river is just a short walk (or two-minute drive) away. Down by the river, you’ll find a large screened gazebo, barbecue, paved fire pit area, and groomed walking trails through the forest. There's so many things to do in the forest and river - swimming, rafting, rock hounding, picking berries, finding wildflowers or just exploring the forest and the river. The space Your space includes a private house and huge yard. The house includes a large and fully-stocked kitchen, three spacious bedrooms, two full bathrooms, two living room areas, a dining room area and a morning room. The house features two decks, including a large covered back deck that overlooks the forest in the backyard. We’ve set up a bird feeder just outside the windows in the morning room - a popular place for evening and rose-breasted grosbeaks, nuthatches, chickadees, blackbirds, woodpeckers and bluejays. We also have resident hummingbirds who enjoy the feeder on the back deck. Just outside your back deck, you'll have exclusive access to a paved fire pit area and a huge back yard. There are lights and electrical outlets available around the fire pit. The yard contains a badminton/volleyball net and a children’s play structure - but there is space for soccer, football or baseball games. The easiest way to access the river is through the gravel road leading to the gazebo and fire pit area. We call this area "downstairs", mainly because the first part of the road is a bit steep (maybe a 10-15% grade). The walk takes 8-10 minutes through beautiful, peaceful forest. You can also drive down (takes 2 minutes), although the steep part can be slick if the rain has been heavy. If your vehicle has four-wheel or all-wheel drive, you'll likely have no issues. The gravel road leads to a large screened gazebo, fire pit area and barbecue nestled in the forest next to the river. There are groomed walking trails nearby, leading along the river or through the forest, and connecting with adjacent crown land. If the river is low, you can venture into the water to wade, swim, build an inukshuk, catch minnows or whatever your imagination inspires you to do. Or stay on the shore to explore, grab a nap in a hammock or just listen to the sounds of the river and the forest. You may run into the hosts (or visiting family members) by the gazebo, but you will more than likely have the place to yourself. We can set up a generator at the gazebo if you’d like power - for music or lights. (There may be a small fee for gas, depending on level of use). A disco ball is available if you’d like a retro vibe to your night. Or enjoy a fire and the dark - on a clear night, the stars are spectacular! There is no running water by the river, but an outhouse is available! Guest access Upon arrival, hosts Lisa and Bill will likely welcome and provide an orientation to the home and property. If they are unavailable, alternative arrangements will be made for access to the home. Other things to note The road to the river may not be accessible by car in the winter, especially if there has been heavy snowfall. Firewood next to the fire pit is complimentary, but if you require more, kindly inform us. If you plan on arriving after dark, please let us know in advance, so we can leave the lights on for you to access the property easily. Quiet hours in the house start at 11:00 p.m., but there are no noise restrictions at the river. Feel free to howl at the moon or turn up the volume on your music. We look forward to hosting you and your family. Thank you for booking with us.
